Hey party people! Thanks for the INSANE participation we had at Tuesday’s meeting; we were so stoked to have filled that entire room in Taper Hall. Look at how many outdoorsy, awesome people this campus has!
For those of you who couldn’t make it, or those who could but want a quick rundown, I’ll recap the deets for you now. You can also gaze upon our beautiful presentation here.
We’re a 100% student-run outdoors group. We’re hikers, surfers, climbers, yogis, bikers, and more; and volunteer our (unpaid!) time to run awesome trips for YOU. Our Guides are super legit, passionate, qualified individuals who want to spread some love for the sweet outdoors ranging from Southern California to Utah, Arizona, Nevada, (and maybe more?).
Again, our trips are all lead by super qualified guides–all of us have or are in the process of being certified Wilderness First Responders, a super legit professional qualification from the Wilderness Medical Institute of NOLS, the National Outdoor Leadership School. Our trips do cost, but the cost reflects the length and intensity of the trip as well as gear required. Once you’ve signed up for a trip, you are completely taken care of from start to finish. Transportation, gear, food, permits, and fun are all provided by us to you.
WHO CAN GO ON TRIPS?
People of any skill level! From absolute never-hiked-before beginners to intense Girl and Boy Scouts, we welcome you all. Some of our trips are as short as a few hours to as long as a week, and are varying degrees of difficulty along the way. We’ll be sure everyone knows what to expect before each trip, so you can determine for yourself whether you’d be keen.
Members get priority trip sign-ups as well as lots of perks along the way. While we do open trip sign-ups to anyone and everyone (within the student body), we open those sign-ups a full 24 hours AFTER our members’ chance to sign up. Members get a substantial discount on the trip costs as well as a much better shot at making it onto the trip list–sometimes our waitlists for trips exceed 30 people! Members also get a discount code (up to 20% for many items) for www.backcountry.com, an outfitter of all sorts of outdoor gear, clothing, and shoes, so that you can equip yourself for the wilderness. Members also are a part of a tight-knit membership community with regular membership events like bonfires, BBQs, and speaker series. Cool! Become a member here. Those who would like to become members but do not have the financial means to do so, LET US KNOW, MAN! We are super ready to accommodate you. We will deal with you on a personal basis, so just shoot us an e-mail and we can work it out.
I hope this answers many of your questions. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you want any more info and we’ll get back to you A$AP Rocky.
OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE 9/9 AT 9 PM IN THH 201 and we’ll have a plethora of groovy trips to tell you about, and members will have the opportunity to sign up immediately afterward! Woo!
