Andy Chu is a graduate student working on his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Raised in NorCal, Andy spent his youth as a Boy Scout (and eventually as an Eagle Scout) taking advantage of the wonderful (and extremely diverse) hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking opportunities from the Santa Cruz Mountains to Angel Island in the middle of the Bay to Henry Coe State Park. These days, when he’s not at SC Outfitters during the school year, you can find him working at Camp Hi-Sierra for the boy scouts, picking up random scouts skills and nature trivia that he’ll often spout out on his trips.
Andy is a founding member of SC Outfitters, having served on the executive board since the beginning. Over the years, he’s led many overnight and day trips, hopefully with each trip bestowing his participants a sense of wonder and excitement for the outdoors. He’s always stoked when he gets to see past participants on another one of his trips!
For him, being able to witness the dramatic change and growth of this organization in a mere couple of years has given him new faith in the promise of collective human endeavors. He’s excited to see where SC Outfitters will go in the future and hopes that you’ll join him!
I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering.
