Christine Sur is a senior from the Bay Area majoring in Environmental Studies. In the beautiful Northern California forests and coasts, Christine grew up hiking and developed a great love for the ocean and mountains. From trips in Big Sur, Sequoia, and Yosemite to Joshua Tree and the mountains around Los Angeles, Christine has backpacked and explored much of California in addition to parts of Central America, New Zealand and Australia. Additionally, Christine has been diving in Guam, Palau, Australia and Fiji, and likes to stop by Catalina for some days in the water.
Christine has been a guide since 2009, and joined leadership as the Day Trip director in 2010. This year she will continue to work on the board as Vice President. She loves seeing the organization thrive and hopes to help it grow even more in the upcoming year.
Christine loves SC Outfitters because it creates a unique community and helps people connect through their passion for the outdoors. Her favorite part is seeing students’ excitement for trips and helping new students discover nature. Most of all, Christine loves getting out of the city to explore the beautiful world around us and to live by these words of wisdom: “Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively, unless you can choose a challenge instead of a competence.”
