Dan is currently studying Civil/Environmental Engineering at USC. His love for nature was really fostered by his parents moving to Nevada City, California, near Lake Tahoe, when he was about 14. Since living there, Dan became an avid hiker/snowboarder/all around outdoorsman. Dan spent all of last summer working for the Tahoe National Forest inspecting bridges for their structural integrity, contributing to his major and all around natural expertise.
Now that Dan is in Los Angeles, it is crucial to him that he get into the backcountry as often as possible. Dan has an excellent sense of direction and can usually locate a weight-lifting gym within a hundred miles of himself. He has an affinity for wearing shorts that are probably too short for him, but that’s just because he doesn’t like to feel constricted or inhibited; it’s really a metaphor for how he lives his life. Since being a guide in SC Outfitters, Dan has become a competent backpacker, and has recently seriously gotten into climbing. Dan has lead photo trips to Joshua Tree National Park and backpacking trips to the Sespe Wilderness, as well as numerous day hikes to Malibu State Park.
Dan loves SC Outfitters because it is filled with like-minded people that love to do stuff outside. He is a guide because he loves passing on what he has learned to those looking to get more involved with backcountry activities. It’s a concrete jungle out there, and sometimes you may wonder how to keep from going under. The answer is to go outdoors as often as possible, since it is easy to get caught up in life in Los Angeles and forget the natural beauty around.
