Georg Ristock is a senior pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Originally from Germany, Georg moved to Northern California at the age of 9 and spent every second from then on exploring the beautiful nature that the area has to offer. As a Boy Scout, he has been continuously involved in learning outdoor skills through 50-mile backpacking trips and sailing the Florida Keys, as well as teaching leadership skills and guiding fellow scouts in week-long summer camps. Over the past five years, Georg has been volunteering as a staff member for the week-long White Stag Youth Leadership Development Camp, teaching outdoor leadership skills through extensive backpacking trips. This past summer, he taught camping, orienteering, and fishing as a Scoutcraft Instructor at Camp Hi-Sierra.
Georg has been a guide with SC Outfitters since the beginning of his sophomore year, with full intentions of continuing this adventure well throughout the rest of his stay at USC. The community of people equally passionate about bonding with the outdoors as well as with each other is what thrills him the most. Georg has guided trips to places such as San Gorgonio and Echo Mountain, and is constantly excited about exploring more of the SoCal Outdoors with like-minded others.
Georg thinks that the greatest decision he’s made in his short life so far was to spend so much time as one with nature. His dreams are to see more of the wilderness in the world and to retire in the Swiss Alps.
