Lucy is a senior originally from Atlanta, Georgia. With the influence of her somewhat hipster outdoorsy parents, Lucy learned to paddle and hike at a very young age and has not stopped since. Despite her southern roots, Lucy spent her childhood exploring the Northwoods of Wisconsin going on wilderness canoeing, kayaking and backpacking trips starting at the ripe age of 9 through Camp Manito-Wish, an untraditional camp that throws kids in the wilderness. It is rad. She now has the honor and joy of being employed (wow!) by Manito-Wish, leading trips through the boundary waters for at risk teens from Chicago and Milwaukee.
Some of her favorite trips include climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Whitney, and spending a month kayaking the remote North Shore of Lake Superior, but she states that each experience outside has been a memorable and joyous one. One year for New Years, her family decided to go on a week long canoeing trip in a swamp . This marked the first and only trip that she did not like. You can always find her singing, dancing, swimming and walking in the rain (she likes sun too). When she’s not pretending to Pocahontas, you can find her wearing too much jewelry, getting lost and talking about Waffle House.
Lucy’s life goals as of now include (but are not limited to) being the world’s greatest grandma and leading rad trips for y’all.
Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and eat and sleep with the earth
