You know what the Eastern Sierras have a lot of? Mountains. But mountains can be hard. And it’s midterms, so you might not want to do hard things. Luckily, the Eastern Sierras also have a lot of something else: Lakes. You know what are easy? Lakes.
In fact, the Eastern Sierras have so many lakes, we can’t even choose one to visit. So if you’re just as exciting, unpredictable, and spontaneous as Galen and Cate, come on their Basecamp trip to Mono Lake(s). They promise an enclosed body of water surrounded by granite peaks (those mountains that are too troublesome to climb), fall colors, and better air than LA. It might be the one in the picture. It might not.
We’ll leave Friday afternoon and book it up to Mammoth, so we can wake up Saturday and explore Mono Lake. We’ll then spend the rest of the day chillin at Basecamp, winning the cooking competition*, and then bragging. Sunday we’ll start heading south early. Maybe we’ll even hit another lake or hot spring on the way down. Who knows. We don’t.
ALSO, if you have a car, we’re looking for a participant driver! If you want a discounted ticket/reimbursement for gas, please email us!
*NOTE: Galen and Cate are both alums of last Basecamp’s champion cooking team, and have every intention of keeping the title.*
