Start: 02/16/2018 End:02/19/2018
Activity: Snowshoeing, Backpacking
Difficulty: Pretty difficult, rated: 5-6; weather conditions can be harsh; elevation gain is not a lot, but keep in mind snow conditions
We’ll be heading to the eastern sierras for a very cold but very fun backpacking trip!! There will be hot springs involved to compensate for the chilly!
We’re leaving Friday afternoon and driving up the 395 to Big Pine where we’ll spend the night and possibly hit up some hot springs. Saturday morning is an early start since we’ll be close to the trailhead, and we’ll begin our snowshoeing trek to first lake, second lake, third lake…you see where we’re going with this. Basically we’ll see lots of lakes!! Our goal is to reach fourth lake, but depending on how the group is feelin, third lake might be where we set up camp for the night (6.5 miles from the trailhead). Temps drop pretty low at night (well below 32) so be prepared and ask for gear beforehand! We’ll have camp set up before sunset, eat some dinner, play some games and then cuddle all night to keep from dying. Sunday morning, we’ll make our way back to the trailhead and then drive about an hour to Alabama hills where its BASECAMP TIME!!! At basecamp, our trip will join the four others going out that weekend for lots of fun, a dinner food competition, campfire (smores), and games. Monday morning we can explore Alabama hills and then make our way back to SC.
We provide: tents, snowshoes, transportation, food// if you need anything else that’s on the gear list please let us know!
