Activity: Hiking; Camping
Are you tired of seeing the same old trees on every visit to j-tree? You’re in luck — we’ll be hiking the Lost Palms Oasis, which offers a view of native California fan palms. These aren’t the typical palm trees featured on Hollywood post cards (which aren’t native to CA by the wayyy) but the only palm trees that are native to California. The Lost Palms Oasis Trail offers the park’s largest concentration of these trees, as well as cacti, views of nearby mountains and the Salton Sea.
This moderate 7-mile trek features some boulder scrambling, and ends at an overlook with views of the oasis. After the hike, we’ll be driving to Key View to catch the sunset, then cooking dinner & camping at a nearby site.
