Start: 04/04/2019 End:04/07/2019
Difficulty: 5 - There is going to be some strenuous snow shoeing and snow camping. Anyone in good shape/camp on some snow will be fine.
The Lads are going on tour, AGAIN. In the last edition, the Lads traveled east to the Mormon State to conquer legendary canyons. There may or may not have been lit pictographs, kick-ass arches, and a phat cave that we slept in – if you know, you know.
IN THIS EDITION
The Lads (and Ladies) are traveling north to one of the least visited national parks in the nation. GREAT FUCKING BASIN is a high-desert oasis in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. IT’S LIT. The desert was carved out by glaciers and features some of the oldest trees on earth, some of the darkest skies in the US, and some of the dankest ancient caves you’ll ever see – all of which we are going to see on this once-in-a-millennium journey/quest/opportunity/come on this dope ass trip.
We’ll drive up Thursday night, but you can sleep on the way. On Friday, once we’re in GBNP, we’ll be snowhoeing into the backcountry where we will camp and see some insane 13,000′ peaks, old ass trees, and lakes! The hiking and camping will be strenuous, but if you are up for it, then it’s going to be epic. We can provide all the gear you’ll need. On Saturday, we will hike around and explore the remote area more before heading back to our cars, where we will camp for the night. Sunday, we’ll wake up and go on a tour through the Lehman Caves (look these up, they’re crazy) and then we’ll head home afterwards and get back to LA late on Sunday.
This park is extremely remote, so this is a great opportunity for you to see a part of the country you may never have the chance to see again.
