Start: 09/03/2017 End:09/04/2017
Difficulty: Moderate: good for beginner backpackers but hiking experience recommended
First send of the semester!!!!! Woooooooooopp!!!! We will be hitting the Eastern Sierras to backpack along many many lakes. We leave Sunday morning (so you can still tailgate and have a good ole time at the first football game) bright and early at 5am and drive up to Inyo. We’ll backpack in to the first onto the Saddlebag Trail around the lake and transfer to the 20 Lakes Trail (I told you there would be lakes!), and we will set up camp around the halfway point of this trail. Next morning on Monday, we will eat some yummy breakfast and go for Canyon trail, an offshoot of 20 Lakes Trail. Then, we will take the loops back and drive home to the lovely urban jungle.
Day 1: 4.5-5 Miles
Day 2: 9 Miles
As one can see from the mileage, it’s not a very strenuous or difficult hike. But, you should be in good physical shape to keep up with elevation gain and the distance. Easier trip for someone who already has a load of backpacking experience, but definitely worth it for the views and lakes. For someone who has hiking experience or one or two backpacking trips under their belt, this is also great for you!
We’re also looking for participant drivers, so email either Soolgi or Ella if that would be a possibility for you! Participant drivers have the price of gas deducted from what they pay.
