Start: 11/17/2017 End:11/19/2017
Activity: hiking, car camping, glamping, 4 wheeling
Difficulty: Pretty chill car camping, with some moderate hiking, mine exploring, sand dune climbing.
Say goodbye to pavement for the weekend as we’ll spend over 100 miles traveling thru dirt, sand, and rocks on the old Mojave Trail, a historic native american and military road through the Mojave Desert. We’ll drive through joshua tree forests, ancient volcanic fields, dried lakebeds, old mining districts, rocky canyons and camp under an endless blanket of stars as many travelers before us have done. Expect to spend sun up to sun down either bouncing along the rugged dirt tracks in 4×4 vehicles or hiking across the vast expanse of the Mojave Desert exploring the history of this route that dates back centuries.
Be prepared to get dusty, dirty and have a smile on your face from the weekend’s rambling. You might even get some practice changing a tire or getting vehicles unstuck from sand, but that’s all part of the fun in spending 100+ miles off road.
