Activity: Trail Building
This is our first volunteering trip of the semester! We are going to be spending the morning and a bit of the afternoon working with the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council to help build a new scenic trail at Point Mugu State Park. We love going out and using these trails – so here’s a chance to give back! SMMTC is run by a few awesome old grandpas who we’ve worked with before. They let us use heavy-duty tools and have a wealth of knowledge about mountains in California. There is supposed to be a group from the Sierra Club and another university, so it should be a big group of us!
We’ll work hard on the trail for the morning, take a lunch break, finish up the trail work, then head to Malibu’s best hidden sand dune for some dune sled races, jump in the ocean, and have the option to grab some breakfast burritos before getting back to campus late Saturday afternoon.
Meet: 6:45 am at Trogo/Starbucks under Birnkrant
Return: Back to USC by 5:00 pm
Cost: FREE!!!! (But we do have a $15 deposit that you get back when you show up!)
