Start: 02/15/2018 End:02/19/2018
Activity: Car camping, racing, rock scrambling, sand dunes (maybe!), hot springing (maybe!)
Moderate- one tougher hike and then some general exploring and wandering about
Get ready to rock your socks off with some of the funkiest geology around! We’re headed to Death Valley and will do our best to not die. If we’re successful, you’ll see the Racetrack, home of Death Valley’s sneaky, slippery, sliding stones that mysteriously move about a dried lakebed leaving tracks behind them. Don’t believe that that happens? Come along and we’ll prove it exists to ya.
Get ready to bounce around on 100+ miles of dirt roads and see some downright beautiful desert scenery in the largest national park in the Lower 48. If the high passes aren’t snowed out, expect a trip to Saline Valley (death valley’s more remote and wilder cousin valley) with a visit to some of the most remote hot springs in the country complete with a hippie colony 50 miles from the nearest pavement. We might see some sand dunes and old mines too, but definitely get excited for the stars! Super dark skies abound deep in the desert and we’ll take you right there.
PS- sorry the trip is so expensive, but 4×4 vehicles are needed for these places and are very thirsty on gas so we promise we did everything possible to minimize costs
