Start: 11/08/2012 End:11/11/2012
Activity: Backpacking, Hiking, Climbing
Difficulty: Strenuous. This will include a 2-day intensive backpacking trip, a hike up the famous Zion slot canyon, the Narrows, along with sport climbing in Red Rocks, Las Vegas. Prepare for lots of fun, little sleep, and unforgettable memories.
Well, here we go. It’s the most intense trip in the history of SC Outfitters.
Are you ready? We are.
We’ll be departing campus at 4 PM on Thursday afternoon, sharp. From there it will be a straight shot to Zion National Park, where we’ll spending the night at Watchman campground inside the valley. On Friday morning, we’ll be getting up early to hike the infamous Zion Narrows from the bottom up. After exploring the Narrows, we’ll return to the van where we’ll drive to the trailhead for the West Rim Trail.
We’ll be backpacking the entire West Rim trail in 2 days, starting right after we hike the Narrows. Expect some serious views, but they’ll be accompanied by some serious miles. We’ll finish up the West Rim trail on Saturday night by hiking up to Angel’s Landing at sunset. That night, we’ll return to Watchman campground and enjoy a fun, exhausted night around the campfire.
It doesn’t end there! We’ll be waking up early Sunday morning and driving straight to Red Rocks in Las Vegas, a famous climbing area. We expect to arrive in Red Rocks in the afternoon and have a half day of climbing in the beautiful Nevada sun. After we’re thoroughly drained, we’ll be headed back to Los Angeles late Sunday night, amazed at what we accomplished in one weekend.
This is the one. You don’t want to miss it.
Meet: LEAVING 4 PM SHARP FROM TROGRO.
Return: Sometime late Sunday night.
Pre-Trip Meeting: TBD
Cost: $180.00 -- look, we totally realize this is expensive, but we guarantee you it will be worth it. We're packing so much into one crazy weekend.
We’ll be going over a complete packing list after sign-ups. You will need access to a sleeping bag with a low-temperature rating (20 or below), along with backpacking gear (with the exception of a sleeping pad and pack, which we can loan you).
All climbing equipment (helmet, harness, shoes, belay device, etc.) will be provided.
