Start: 10/09/2015 End:10/11/2015
Difficulty: Very Strenuous (3,600 ft elevation gain, fall over 16 miles and two days)
Alpine Lakes. Glaciers. Fall colors. The Eastern Sierras. And Mother-f#&king glow sticks.
To describe this trip in one word: Huge. We’ll meet up midday on Friday, power our way up to Lone Pine to pick up our permits, and camp out at the trailhead for the night (Just a sliver of the moon in the sky on Friday night? Coincidence ithinknot). We’ll wake up Saturday morning and hike up to two different waterfalls before coming across the first lake. We’ll settle in at a campsite at the Third Lake in the afternoon, and then throw on day packs to explore up the seven other (casually beautiful) lakes that are up the trail, and make ourselves a delicious dinner to enjoy in the pristine Sierra Nevadas. Stargazing will be amazing at 10,500 feet. As will the taking photo graphs using our glowsticks.
Sunday morning we’ll wake up early, power our way back down the mountain, and fight our way back down the amazing 395 to get back to USC.
