Start: 03/31/2017 End:04/02/2017
Difficulty: Strenuous -- 30 miles over 3 days, with around 4000' feet of elevation gain.
Join us on a vicious 30 mile loop thru the Los Padres National Forest! We’ll be hitting some rarely used trails to really get out there and see the pristine beauty of the Sespe Wilderness. Friday, we’ll start at the iconic Piedra Blanca rock formations and make our way up Sespe Creek, which should be roaring after all the recent rainfall. We can enjoy a relaxing soak in Willet Hot springs at the end of this day. Saturday we’ll tackle the gorgeous Red Reef trail (an old mining/horsepacking trail) which climbs 3500′ in 9.5 miles and will spit us out on top of the beautiful Nordhoff Ridge/Topa Topa bluffs, with sweeping views of the Ojai Valley and the Channel Islands, if it’s a clear day. Sunday we’ll head down Lion Canyon back to the car. Sign up for this trip if you like big mileage with plenty of rewarding views!
