Activity: Trail work, community service
Difficulty: Depends on what type of work you choose to do on the trail, ranging from easy to moderate!
We’ll be working with the Santa Monica Mountains Trail Council to do some maintenance work on the Hondo Canyon stretch of the Santa Monica Backbone Trail — we’ve worked with this organization before, and they do a lot of important work to keep the trails we love so much in the Santa Monica mountains clear + easily accessible!
And if ya didn’t know, the Backbone Trail was recently fully completed and now stretches for a full 67 (!!) miles across the Santa Monica Mountains! It is the largest stretch of urban trail & some of the most accessible outdoor space in America, and this is your chance to help make it stay that way <3
We’ll work on the trail in the morning, take a lunch break & finish up any remaining work around 2pm. After that it’s flexible – we’ll def stop for some amazing breakfast burritos in Malibu and then can hang out at the beach!
Meet: Meet at 7am at TroGro/Starbucks by EVK
Return: Back at USC by 5pm
Cost: FREE! (But with a $10 deposit that you'll get back after showing up)

- At least 2 liters of water
- Lunch & any snacks you want
- Pants/long sleeves
