Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.
- Gary Snyder; American poet
Sweet! We’re excited that you want to go on an adventure with us. But you might be going, “Wait! How do I go about doing that?”
No worries. That’s what we’re here for. Just click on a tab below to get started…
Well you’re off to a great start already! www.scoutfitters.org is your main location for everything USC outdoors related. Just head over to Our Trips page to get the overview look of all the trips that we offer or you can look off over there to the right to check out each individual trip’s description page. They go up at the start of every month right before our member meeting (a little more on that later), and they’re filled with tons of great details including pictures, a description, how much that trip will cost, and which guides are leading it.
Lastly, we also periodically post blurbs on our Facebook page from time to time. Just like us on Facebook to get our cool little statuses! Do so and you’ll be the first to know when trips are posted on our website, when sign ups open (more on that later), and more because we know you’re always on Facebook. Well, at least I am… Well, except on trips.
To do so, you might want to consider becoming a member of SC Outfitters. On top of other great benefits (including a sweet gear discount), you’ll have access to our monthly member meeting, where we premier all of our trips for that month! But more importantly, you’ll have access to our priority sign ups!
To take advantage of this perk, simply go to the meeting; you’ll not only be able to learn about the trips from the guides themselves, but also be able to be the first to sign up for them. Make sure to bring your credit card! We can take any credit or debit card via Square, or cash.
Not a member? Can’t go to the meeting? Not a problem. Shortly after our member meeting, we will update each of our trip pages with sign up links for that trip. In fact, there are certain trips that have sign ups that are only available for sign ups online!
To get your name on the list, simply click on the green button and you’ll be spirited to our sign up form. Click the “Finish your reservation @ PayPal” button to then be whisked away to PayPal to pay for your trip and complete your reservation. When it’s all done, you’ll get an email confirming that everything’s complete!
But wait! What if you see the blue wait list button instead? Unfortunately, we’re limited with the number of people we can take on each trip, usually because of limits on either transportation or safety gear. But that shouldn’t mean you should fret! People cancel all the time. Maybe it’s a last minute project a professor magically assigns the week before. Maybe it’s that stack of homework that managed to stay hidden. Life happens. So when it does, we’ll fill those spots on from the wait list. Make sure you’re on it!
Regardless, just make sure to consult Our Refund Policy!
First, and foremost, you need to fill out our participant waiver and information form. In case an emergency happens, we need to make sure that we have the correct information. Download the form and turn it in to your guide!

After that, it’s time to relax. As your trip draws nearer, your guide will send an email with more details about your trip. Don’t block us please! We’ll be sending them from our @scoutfitters.org addresses.
Also, if you’re going on an overnighter or select day trips, your guide might also require a mandatory pre-trip meeting. That way they can share important information about your trip, including safety details, meals, and gear you might need. You’ll know if you have a pre-trip meeting from your trip’s description page.
Did you share this trip for all your friends to know how awesome it is?
You know you want to brag! We do! Use the handy dandy share links on each page!
Did you grab the gear you need?
Our guides have lots of insider information that we can use to get the gear you need for a trip for free or super cheap. Just ask. We don’t mind.
Did you ask your guide any questions you have?
We love it when participants ask us questions. Just give us a holler! Need more questions answered? Feel free to contact us via Our Help Desk.
And that’s it! Well that and make sure to have a blast on your trip!
