Take a trip to the south side of Joshua Tree with Emmy and resident, sco Astronomer, Drew for an overnight filled with s’mores, stars, and a hike to the top of Mastodon peak for beautiful views of the desert. This one night excursion will be super chill but jam packed with activities. After leaving from USC, the group will roll up to Joshua Tree for the mid-afternoon enjoying the sun and the views. Timing it correctly, we will hike to the top of Mastodon and watch the sunset from one of the most beautiful look outs in the park. After we will head over to set up camp a little south of the park, make some dinner and have Professor Drew tell us things about stars. The next day we will wake up and go back into the park for a hike to Cotton Springs Oasis.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Layers! The temperature fluctuates a lot in the desert!

• Comfortable hiking shoes/athletic sneakers

• Water, water, water (at least 2L)

• Camera

• Sleeping bag (can borrow from SCO)

• Sleeping pad (can borrow from SCO)

• Head lamp

• Toiletries

• Sun protection (hat, sun screen, sunglasses)

• A dope Spotify playlist

• A bomb attitude
